Cong MLC slams IB chief for T-remarks

Congress MLC Yadav Reddy on Friday slammed Intelligence Bureau Director Asif Ibrahim for expressing concerns over formation of Telangana State.

Talking to reporters here, Yadav Reddy said that the IB chief’s remarks were shocking and could sabotage the ongoing process of Telangana formation. He demanded that Asif Ibrahim be removed from the post immediately for making the statement in an irresponsible manner. It may be mentioned that while addressing the annual conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police from across the country at New Delhi on Thursday, he stated that the Telangana issue has thrown up new challenges for the security agencies and intelligence agencies both at the State as well as national level.

Yadav Reddy said that the Telangana people were capable of handling the law and order situation effectively. Therefore, the officials should not go overboard in expressing their concerns. He said linking naxal issue with Telangana alone was incorrect as it was a national issue.

He also claimed that the Telangana Bill would automatically get the nod of President of India if the State Legislative Assembly fail to take a decision on the same within the stipulated time. Therefore, he said that the Seemandhra leaders should avoid efforts to stop the Telangana Bill. (INN)
