Senior leader Congress and MLC KR Amos on Thursday advised all the leaders who are planning to quit the party to do so by the end of December.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point, Amos said that the leaders should not stay with the Congress party with half-heart. He said if someone was willing to quit, then he should leave the party immediately. This would facilitate the Congress party to prepare for the next elections in a proper way.
Condemning the exodus from the Congress party, Amos said that several leaders whose political career was nourished by the Congress were joining the other parties by cheating the people. However, he said that the exodus would not affect the ruling party at a large scale. He expressed confidence that the Congress, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, would return to power both in the State and the Centre.
Regarding Telangana issue, he said that the decision on the statehood issue has been pending for the last 60 years as the Centre was misled by some leaders with vested interests. However, he said that this was the right time for the Congress party to announce its decision on Telangana. He also said that a majority of leaders joining the YSR Congress party were from Seemandhra region. This shows that the Telangana leaders have full confidence on the party’s leadership.
Amos said that the Telangana leaders have no objection over Handri-Neeva project if was benefitting the Rayalaseema region. However, he said that the project would be opposed if it causes damage to the Telangana region.
The Congress MLC also demanded that the State Government should ensure the ratio of local and non-local candidates during the Teachers’ recruitment across the State. He said as per the rules, at least 80 per cent of the local candidates should be recruited in the Telangana region and this should be ensured by the government.
