Hyderabad, February 25: Following in the footsteps of Congress MPs from Telangana, party MLAs from the region will raise the separate statehood demand in the Andhra Pradesh legislature.
“We will follow the path of Telangana MPs. Their behaviour is appreciable. We will raise the Telangana demand in the Assembly”, S Rajaiah, an MLA from Telangana told reporters in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The demand for a separate Telangana state paralysed proceedings in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday with the TRS and members of TDP and Congress from the region vying with each other to raise the ticklish issue.
Several Congress members, including M Jagannath, Madhu Goud Yaskhi, Poonam Prabhakar and Sarvey Satyanarayana raised slogans like ‘Jai Telangana’, while TDP member from Adilabad, Ramesh Rathod joined the TRS members in the well.
Rajaiah also said the party MLAs would participate in “direct agitation” for separate Telangana.
