Hyderabad, November 02: The Congress MLAs from the Telangana region would move a privilege motion against former minister Jupally Krishna Rao for making allegations that they received bribe from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the form of SUVs for not leaving the party.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party Office here on Tuesday, Congress MLA K Laxma Reddy described Jupally’s allegations as ‘baseless’. He said that Jupally who was with the Congress party till yesterday is now levelling baseless allegations against his former colleagues.
Asking Jupally to submit evidence to prove his allegations, Laxma Reddy asked, “How much money he took from Chandrasekhar Rao to join the TRS?” He reminded that Jupally described KCR as the Telangana’s biggest enemy and now he is using the TRS platform to target the Congress party. Stating that the Congress MLAs would move a privilege motion against Jupally before the Speaker Nadendla Manohar, he said legal notices would also be served to newspapers who published the report without any evidence.
Regarding Telangana, the Congress MLA said that the statehood for the region was not possible without the support of the United Progressive Alliance, particularly the Congress party. He said that the TRS could raise hue and cry about the Telangana, but it was only Congress party which could give statehood for the region. He said the Congress leaders would stage hunger fast in Delhi to convince the Congress High Command on the Telangana state.
Laxma Reddy also targeted the Telangana Congress Steering Committee by asking the Congress MPs to stop giving instructions to the MLAs on what they should do for the Telangana cause. Without naming any leader, he said that the MLAs do not need any advise on how the Telangana agitation should continue. However, he expressed total support for agitations being taken up for the statehood cause.
The Congress MLA said that a delegation of party legislators would soon meet the Chief Minister asking him to order a probe into the assets of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao. He alleged that KCR has accumulated wealth through illegal means and he got it multiplied after the launch of Telangana agitation in the recent past. While asking KCR to declare his assets, he said that the Chief Minister would be convinced to order a comprehensive probe against him.
