Hyderabad, February 01: Congress leaders from Telangana region would on Monday discuss the party’s directive that they should “withdraw” from the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC).
The matter would be discussed at a meeting of the leaders from Telangana, Congress MLA B Saraiah told reporters on Sunday night.
He said the JAC was formed at the residence of senior MLA and former minister K Jana Reddy and that it never acted against the party.
Another senior leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy said formation of Telangana state would solve all problems.
Union Minister Veerappa Moily, in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, said on Sunday in Delhi that Congress leaders should “withdraw” themselves from the JAC.
He warned that “any violation of the party discipline will be seriously dealt with”.
Moily also asked party leaders not to rush to the press on a “sensitive” issue like this to precipitate the matters and disrupt the normalcy restored after the discussions held with all political parties and leaders by the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on 5th January.
The statement comes close on the heels of JAC extending its deadline to 7th February for getting the resignations of legislators accepted following Chidambaram’s announcement that a committee on the issue will be appointed by next week.
