Cong leaders meet Jagan in Hyderabad over ‘Odarpu yatra’

Hyderabd, June 06: Several Congress leaders today met Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been asked by the party high command not to resume his ‘Odarpu yatra’.

Congress Whip S Sailajanath and other ruling MLAs Srikant Reddy and Adinarayana Reddy, all considered loyalists of the late Y Rajasekhara Reddy, are among those who met Jagan.

His uncle and MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy and other family members also met him, besides several senior leaders who are understood to have told him not to go against the party high command.

Meanwhile, Congress MP V Arun Kumar, who was a close associate of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, met Chief Minister K Rosaiah this evening amid reports that he was trying to broker peace between Jagan and Rosaiah.

Arun Kumar, however, denied the reports and said there is no problem in the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

“There is no gap (between Rosaiah and Jagan). Congress party is united. There is no need for a small man like me to do something. Rosaiah is the senior most leader. He would be ready if people like me have a problem. There is nothing for people like me to settle something,” Arun Kumar told reporters after his meeting with Rosaiah.

Defying high command’s directive, Jagan had embarked on his tour to Warangal district in Telangana last week. He had to abandon the yatra as Telangana supporters threw stones and vandalised the railway station where he was scheduled to disembark.

Jagan has claimed on June one that the high command gave him permission to resume his yatra in non-Telangana regions after meeting Union Law Minister and in-charge of AP affairs Veerappa Moily. Moily, however, clarified in the evening that neither Jagan sought permission nor he gave the same.
