New Delhi, September 29: The Telangana Congress leaders have written a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh urging him to take a decision on Telangana issue early.
The Telangana Congress leaders including MPs, Ministers and MLAs met at Rajya Sabha member VH Hanumantha Rao’s residence here on Wednesday to discuss the future course of action to be adopted in October if the high command fails to announce decision on Telangana by September end. The meeting took a unanimous decision to write a letter to the Prime Minister on the issue.
In the letter, the leaders briefed the Prime Minister about the impact of general strike in the Telangana region and how it paralysed the administration and caused inconvenience to the general people. The leaders also stated that there would not be in a position to go to their constituencies if the Centre drags the issue further in the name of consultations. The leaders, in their letter, appealed to PM to take a favourable decision on Telangana respecting the sentiments and aspirations of four crore people.
Speaking to reporters over the deliberations, Telangana Congress Steering Committee chairman K Kesava Rao said that the situation in Telangana is very volatile and would go out of control if the Centre prolongs the issue further. He said that the Telangana Congress leaders were ready to sacrifice their posts for the cause of Telangana statehood. He appealed to the PM to make an announcement on Telangana and put an end to uncertainty in the region.
The meeting was also attended by Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy.
