Telangana Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday alleged that the previous Congress regime constructed irrigation projects for the sake of contractors, while the TRS Government is taking up constructions for the people.
Speaking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan here, Harish Rao strongly condemned Congress and CPI for their criticism on State Government over Thotapalli project. He pointed out that the opposition parties and farmers had demanded the then Congress Government in 2008 to stop the project as it would inundate six villages. He said for the same reason, the project has been stopped.
Harish Rao expressed wonder over CPI Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy opposing the State Government’s decision to stop the project. He said on May 18, 2008, Venkat Reddy himself wrote a letter to the then Congress Government asking it stop the project immediately. He also presented a copy of the letter before the media. (INN)
