Santiniketan, October 25: Congress today demanded immediate removal of the Vice-chancellor of the Visva-Bharati university, Rajat Kanta Roy, for allegedly indulging in corrupt practices.
“I have full support of the university’s agitating teaching and non-teaching staff who have been demanding Roy’s removal for his malpractices,” WBPCC Working President, Subrata Mukherjee, told reporters here.
Mukherjee said he would inform the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Kapil Sibal, and Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, about the VC’s alleged misdeeds.
“I’ll will even sit in a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata along with scholars and intellectuals to expose him,” Mukherjee said.
The teaching and non-teaching staff of the university have been on a ceasework since Friday last demanding CBI inquiry into Ray’s “illegal activities”.
