Amritsar, February 24: Congress men in Punjab today demanded a CBI probe into the brutal killing of a BKU leader who was bludgeoned to death here recently.
The demand was made after a party delegation comprising MLAs Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria and other leaders met Inspector General (IG) of police Border Range, Amritsar Iqbal Singh Sahota to review the progress in the case.
Later talking to reporters, they said they were demanding a CBI probe into the case as they suspected involvement of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in the killing of the BKU leader and didn’t have any hope for justice.
BKU’s Organizing Secretary for Punjab Sadhu Singh Takhtupura was murdered by a group of fifteen people with iron rods and swords in the border village Bhindian Saida of Amritsar in full public view on February 16.
