Cong defaming RSS through cheap politics: Katheria

New Delhi: Union minister and BJP leader Ram Shankar Katheria today accused the Congress of “misleading” people and “defaming” RSS through “cheap politics” a day after UPCC chief Nirmal Khatri was booked for allegedly sharing a photograph of an RSS worker on Facebook that claimed that the latter was being beaten up for robbing Chennai flood victims.

“Congress and its senior leadership have come down to doing cheap politics and tantrums in absence of serious issue. Sometimes they disrupt Parliament and blame the government for any issue related to the Court in order to hide their sin unsuccessfully.

“On other occasions, they concoct incidents, make false documents and misuse social media to defame nationalist organisations. The manner in which senior Congress leaders like Khatri, who is party state chief have tried defame RSS, which has served the nation for last ninety years is disgusting and a criminal act,” Katheria told reporters at a press conference.

The police case was lodged against Khatri in Agra by a RSS worker Ajit Chahar

The photograph had showed Chahar being beaten up by police.

Katheria, who is the BJP MP from Agra said that the photograph was taken by a photojournalist during a police lathicharge on RSS’ bicycle rally in Agra in 2012.

“UPCCC chief lodged a big conspiracy to defame RSS on his facebook profile. While doing so he forgot that he was committing a crime. Recently RSS workers serve the Chennai flood victims putting their life at stake but Congress leaders could not digest the praise of RSS for its work,” he said.

Katheria also alleged that a person Mehul Maru “connected with Youth Congress” had also shared the same photograph alleging that the RSS worker was beaten up by police for “eve teasing”.

“Such incidents prove that Congress and its senior leaders have become desperate after losing power,” he said.

Replying to questions Katheria said that if the police failed to act properly, they will raise the issue in a big way.
