Cong credibility ensured success in bypoll: CM

Hyderabad, September 14: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today said impressed with the developmental projects and welfare schemes initiated by the Congress Government, people had voted for Congress candidate K Bharati in the byelection to the Tekkali Assembly Seat.

Addressing a press conference here, he said YSR stood for credibility by delivering on the promises made to the people. ”We need to enhance the Congress credibility by implementing developmental programmes and welfare schemes with more vigour,” he added.

He expressed happiness over the party improving its tally, winning seven of the 12 MLA seats in 2004 and nine of the 10 MLA seats(after the delimitation exercise) in April 2009 in Srikakulam District, which had been electing non-Congress parties since 1952.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu claimed the Congress won because of ”double sympathy” by fielding the widow of sitting Congress MLA K Revathipathy in the byelections held soon after the death of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash recently.
