Hyderabad, November 08: Downplaying the strong resentment in the ruling Congress over ticket distribution for the civic polls in Hyderabad, D Nagender, who quit as city Congress president, today expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the elections.
“Though I have quit my post as city Congress president, I am not the one to leave the battlefield mid-course. We will strive for party’s victory and it will be a homage to late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and a gift to Chief Minister K Rosaiah,” Nagender, who is the state Health Minister, told reporters.
Nagender resigned from his post of Congress city president following allegations that he engaged in corruption in distribution of party tickets for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, scheduled to be held on November 23.
