Cong candidates will taste defeat: OUJAC

Hyderabad, May 14: Taking exception to PCC chief D Srinivas’s affirmative statement that the party would contest the Assembly byelections, the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) today said the party candidates would taste defeat if they contested against those who resigned for the sake of separate Telangana movement.

“The Congress does not have the moral right to contest the elections as it did not come out with a clear stand on separate Telangana. The people of Telangana will ensure that whoever fights against the resigned candidates gets defeated,’’ OU JAC leaders P Kailash Neta, M Anil Kumar and others told reporters at the Arts College today.

The OUJAC also came down heavily on the breakaway group of the JAC which launched a diatribe against Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for his recent comments on students. Rao said recently that the TR S had trained the students for taking an active part in the separate Telangana agitation. Condemning the comments, breakaway student union said they would expose the misdeeds of Chandrasekhar Rao in the Telangana movement.

“We take exception to the comments of the breakaway faction. They are against the separate Telangana movement and it appeared they made the comments under the influence of coastal Andhra leaders,’’ Kailash Neta said.

“If we have any differences with the TRS we should resolve it through discussions and not drag a party fighting for Telangana into controversy,’’ he added.
