Hyderabad: Alleging that the TRS government, which was elected constitutionally, was encouraging party defections unconstitutionally, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has revealed that his party will approach the Supreme Court on defections.
The TPCC held a meeting with legal experts on Thursday at Gandhi Bhavan. Congress leaders Mohammed Ali Shabbir, DK Aruna, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sampath Kumar, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, legal experts J Ravi Shankar and others participated in the meeting.
Speaking to the media later, Uttam said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was encouraging defections and transformed the Secretariat and the Camp Office as political forums. He said KCR luring the Opposition parties’ leaders, including MLAs, MPs and MLCs to join the TRS party.
Though the Congress party has lodged complaints with all Constitutional bodies, there was no response from them, he said. “Nowhere the democracy was protected”, he lamented. He said the Congress has decided to approach the Supreme Court along with all evidences that the democracy was in danger and not protected due to the acts of violation of the Constitution.
A petition will be filed in the Supreme Court after June 28 because vacation was going on for Supreme Court till June 28. He said the Congress will lodge a complaint with Parliament Speaker against Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, who joined the TRS recently. He said his party would also file a petition in the Supreme Court on Gutha Sukhender Reddy. He made it clear that the Congress party will wage legal war on political defections. (NSS)
