In the wake of statehood being given to Telangana on June 2 with the announcement of Appointed Day and new parties being floated by none other than former Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and noted Telugu Cinema Hero Pavan Kalyan mulling options for the same, Congress party is said to be scared. It is being debated among political circles that the Congress is peeved at the new parties coming up on community and caste basis and may split its vote bank. However after bifurcation the Congress has shifted its focus to revive and strengthen the party at all levels. Main objective now before the Congress is that it should adopt a strategy that helps it to clinch most of the seats in Telangana and Seemandhra during the forthcoming general elections and those of Municipalities. In the process the high command is ready to set up two PCCs in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of bifurcation that led to a situation to tackle. According to information senior leader K Jana Reddy’s name is almost finalized by the high command for Telangana PCC chief post. Botcha will have to confine to remaining part of Seemandhra. A communication in this regard is expected in a day or two, sources in the congress said. As per the party calculation Jana Reddy may have an easy path for a truck with the TRS in the elections to come as its Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao denied merger of his party.
On the other hand the Center decided to make it big in the arena of politics. A step further in that direction is that the Center taken a decision to delink subsidized Gas with Aadhar.
Interestingly, in Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister Kiran Reddy is likely to announce his new party at his home district of Tirupathi on Saturday and announce agenda and flag at Rajahmundry on March 12. Similarly, Pavan Kalyan, who was reluctant till recent days, almost made it clear on his political entry is unavoidable. Pavan close aides stated that he may announce his political entry on March 14 if not on 9 at Hitec City where arrangements are being made. However, it is being widely debated that politics become a ‘passion’ for some and ‘fashion’ for others. Even PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana ridiculed Kiran for his new party plans. Botcha is off to the national capital and discussing with the high command to finalise a decision to set up two PCCs – one for Telangana and other for Seemandhra. Though reluctant, Botcha made up his mind to abide by the party if it decides to have two PCCs for contesting elections from both regions. The Congress wants to have TRS alliance in Telangana as that will help at national level after general elections. It may be recalled that AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh expressed happiness over KCR’s statement that he will think of an alliance which will be taken care of by K Kesava Rao committee. The Congress will sure think of its proposal and the high command will take a decision Singh said. (NSS)
