Confident India to take on Windies in lone T20I today

Kingston: Riding high on confidence after clinching a five-match ODI series 3-1, India will aim to continue their momentum when they take on West Indies in their one-off Twenty20 International clash at Sabina Park on Sunday.

India, however, are expected to face a slightly more difficult task to get better of the hosts like they did in the ODI series as the Caribbean T20 side seem to be much more balanced.

As India’s squad for the ODIs and T20s were announced same, the Virat Kohli-led side’s playing XI will not look drastically different.

The Carlos Brathwaite-led side, on the other hand, will look to end the limited-overs series on high and , for this, they will rely heavily on swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle, who has not played an international match since the World T20 final against England in 2016.

Gayle is the highest run-maker for West Indies in this format with 1,519 runs (average 35.32, strike rate 145.49), including two centuries. This will be his first T20I at Sabina Park.

Test and ODI skipper Jason Holder, who did not feature in that series, has been rested again.

In T20s, West Indies, who are the reigning world champions, lead the head-to-head record against India 4-2.
