Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today directed the department officials to extend necessary assistance to the farmers in the state through soil tests.
In a video conference with the officials, the minister expressed concern that despite much expenditure the farmers could not get better produce. To tide over this problem the agriculture scientists and officials should create awareness among the farmers on fertilizers use and type of the soil and use of quality seeds. The State Government will offer fresh crop loans of Rs 25,000 cr to the farmers he said. He asked the officials to issue certificates to the farmers after conducting soil tests in nine districts. The minister asked them to conduct soil tests extensively and provide necessary inputs to the farmers on productive farm practices. (NSS)
