Conduct GHMC polls in a democratic manner: Congress

A delegation of Telangana Congress leaders called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Friday seeking his directions to State Government for conducting GHMC elections in a democratic manner.

The delegation, led by TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, comprised of Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender, former Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy and others. Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government has been resorting to several irregularities to win GHMC elections. He said there were several discrepancies in delimitation of GHMC wards. There was an open violation of rules in creating new municipal divisions, he said.

The TPCC chief said that the TRS Government was doing injustice with BCs, SCs and STs in ward reservation. He said that the Congress party had approached the High Court to seek adequate time for conduct of GHMC elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also alleged that the TRS leaders have spent over Rs. 450 crore on nearly 2,000 hoardings that were erected across the Greater Hyderabad limits. (INN)
