Hyderabad Literary Forum (HLF) organized a condolence meeting to express grief over the sad demise of two well known poets and professors of Urdu namely Dr. Mughni Tabassum of Osmania University and Dr. Shahriyar of Aligarh Muslim University.
Mr. Ali Zaheer mentioned his 40 year companionship with Prof. Mughni Tabassum. He said that HLF was functioning for the past so many years but Prof. Mughni Tabassum organized it properly in 1984 and became its first president. Famous Urdu Journal “Sher-O-Hikmath” (quarterly) is a testimony of the scholarships of Prof. Mughni and Prof. Shahriyar, Prof. Shiv K.Kumar, former Head of the Dept. of English OU very sadly mentioned that he had translated his drama from English to Urdu.
Prof. Baig Ehsaas, Head, Dept of Urdu, University of Hyderabad told that Prof. Mughni was his teacher and friend. Padmashri Mujtaba Hussain told that he lost two of his best friends within a week. He said that his friendship with Prof. Mughni spreads over half a century.
Padmashri Jeelani Bano while condoling the death of both Prof. Mughni and Prof. Shahriyar told that both of them have contributed a lot to Urdu literature. Mr. Mushif Iqbal Touseefi mentioned his companionship. Dr. Yousuf Azmi applauded the talents of Prof. Mughni in the field of Urdu criticism. His old friend Mr. Quadeer Zaman recollected his memories. The programme was started with the speech of Mr. Aslam Farshorie Ms. Quamer Jamali proposed vote of thank.
