‘Concerned’ BJD says ‘it’s in favour of smooth functioning of the House’

New Delhi, Aug 3 : Pointing out that the Parliament witnessed similar scenes when the Congress-led UPA regime was in power, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday said that it was in favour of smooth functioning of the House.

BJD leader Prasanna Kumar Patasani while talking to ANI expressed hope that the ongoing deadlock in the Parliament would come to an end following today’s all-party meeting.

“This is true that many bills are still pending. Even during the Congress government when the BJP was in opposition, hullabaloo prevailed. Now, also it is the same and because of this the common people suffer. That’s why they are calling for an all-party meeting, in which they will be successful,” Patasani said.

“Our party is in favour of smooth functioning of the House. If the House stops functioning, there will be stupendous monetary loss,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government will devise a way to end the two-week long deadlock in the Parliament with an all-party meeting today.

The opposition parties led by the Congress have not been allowing discussions and demanding resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje and her Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. (ANI)
