From the academic year 2014-15, government has made it compulsory to secure minimum 35 percent marks in Telugu to pass SSC exam where as the passing marks for Telugu were 20 for years. Not only Muslims but other linguistic minorities will suffer great loss due to enforcement of this rule by the former government. Lakhs of students write SSC exam every year. Muslims and other linguistic minorities will face a lot of difficulty because of this rule.
Parents of students and private school managements opined that making 35 pc marks compulsory in Telugu is a prejudiced decision and government of Telangana should bluntly reject the decision. They say that there is nothing wrong in learning Telugu but forcefully obligating any language on minorities is uncalled for. On one side the government talks of eliminating educational and economic backwardness of minorities and on the other hand it takes such decisions which indirectly become the cause of educational and economic backwardness of minorities.
