Chairman of AP State Wakf Board, Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani expressed the need for delegating executive powers to the State Wakf Boards by enacting a comprehensive Wakf Bill. He expressed these ideas in the Wakf conference held in Bhopal the day before yesterday. This conference was held to consider giving the salaries to the Imams and Muzzins of the mosques.
Maulana Afzal Biyabani suggested many proposals in the conference which were supported by the other chairman of State Wakf Boards. He told that due to lack of executive powers, Wakf Boards are facing difficulties in removing illegal possessions. He also suggested for giving powers to State Wakf Boards for implementing developmental schemes on open Wakf lands.
He supported the proposal of giving salaries to Imams and Muazzins of the mosques. He opined that this can be taken up if Central Govt. provides adequate funds for it. He appealed to the Chairman of all the Wakf Boards to approve this proposal and send it to Central Govt. so that it could be included in the proposed Wakf Bill.
According to the statement made by Maulana Biyabani, his proposals were accepted by the other Chairmen of other State Wakf Boards.
