Right to Education (RTE) has been given the status of fundamental right in 2002. It was taken into consideration during national curriculum framework in the year 2005 and was sanctioned in the year 2009. The act came into force on April 1, 2010 but could not be implemented because of some niggling issues. Showing apprehensions without minutely going through the act is imprudent. These views were expressed by Mr. Mohammad Ali Rafath IAS here at the state office of SIO located at Lakadkot, Chatta bazaar while addressing to the representatives of various students unions from across the state.
He said that the act requires all schools (except unaided minority schools) to set aside 25% of seats at the entry level for students belonging to economically weaker (EWS) and disadvantaged sections. But a section of the population is propagating against it which is uncalled for.
On the occasion Mr. Mohammad Ali Rafath gave satisfactory answers to several questions raised by the gathering.
