Yellampally Project in Karimnagar should be ready by next June in 2016 to irrigate 1.50 lakh acres of land in the district, irrigation minister T Harish Rao directed officials. Efforts should be made to fillup waters at 148 meters by next rainy season, he said at a review meeting with the officials at Secretariat here. The minister asked them to focus on speeding up the project works, lifts, housing facility to the victims and rehabilitation to displaced and suitable compensation on a whole. He directed to cancel a contract and call fresh tenders for failing to complete seven lift works at Dharmapuri wherein only one work was completed three are on and the rest of three yet to begin. He directed steps to convert Medaram lake into a reservoir and acquire and settle the row of 120 acres land. As per Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s assurance officials should prepare proposals to convert Rollavagu a lake into a reservoir and another for a barrage near Jaina village above Yellampally project and besides making payments for houses valued for the properties and allot plots to the needy in rehabilitation colonies.
