Complete Sujala Sravanthi project on priority basis, demands Dadi

Leader of Opposition Dadi Veerabhadra Rao on Thursday placed adjournment motion in the State Legislative Council seeking to know the status of Sujala Sravanthi Project.

Veerabhadra Rao said that when the project was announced it was stated that it would provide water to Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. But now reports are coming that the government has decided to stop the project. He said that the people of above mentioned districts were concerned by the government’s decision.

He demanded that the government announced that the project would taken up on priority basis under the Jala Yagnam scheme. It should also declare how much funds were provided for each project taken under the Jala Yagnam and how much time was required for its completion.

CPI Floor leader Jalli Wilson moved an adjournment motion demanding discussion on Wakf and Devadula lands. He said despite the orders of Supreme Court and High Court, the State Government has failed to protect the Wakf lands in the State.

CPM Floor Leader C Seeta Ramulu seconded the motion and demanded that constitution of Wakf Commissionerate with an IAS Officer as its head.

However, Council chairman disallowed both the motions. (INN)
