Complete pending projects, Minister tells offici

Kadapa, August 11: Union Minister of State for Steel, A Sai Pratap, has directed the officials to take steps for completion of all pending works in the district to enable more industrialists to show interest in setting up their units.

Participating in a review meeting with offi cials from Revenue, Roads and Buildings and Land Acquisition departments, he wanted them to accelerate the ongoing doubling, electrification and railway-over-bridge works.

Asking them to submit the estimates for (ROBs) and approach roads, he said that he would approach the Chief Minister to seek the release of the State’s share for taking up railway works. District Collector Sasibhushan Kumar said the realignment of the railway line (diversion route) skipping the reservoir area, was yet to begin despite completion of the land acquisition. He said that though the Kadapa ring road was completed, it was not thrown open to traffic as construction of the the railway-overbridge was not completed.

Assuring speeding up of doubling and electrification works, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) G S V Singh said the Railways was waiting for the release of Rs 29 crore which the State Government had already deposited with the Railways for the survey and land acquisition for taking up the 253-km Kadapa-Bengaluru railway line estimated to cost Rs 1,000 crore.

The Union Minister also said that he had sent a letter to the Railway Ministry requesting it to arrange a halt for Manmad and Sampark Kranthi Express trains at Rajampet station. Joint collector M Girija Shankar, Special Collector Ch Mohan Rao, Railway Board member Shabbeer Ahmed and others were present.
