Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to complete all pending major and medium irrigation projects by 2016.
At a marathon seven-hour review meeting on the pending irrigation projects, Harish Rao asked the officials to expedite the process and overcome the hurdles if any by active coordination with other departments. Projects in Palamur, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Karimnagar and other districts should be completed on priority basis. Began with Palamur, the minister summed it up with the Warangal district and asked them to use GO No 146 for completion of 25 pending projects and 123 GO for land acquisition and steps as and when necessary for the works.
The government released adequate money for the speedy completion of these projects which are key to increase agriculture productivity when the projects are filled with the waters. Restore the works stalled as of now by talking to the contractors, he directed the officials. He also asked the Palamur officials to complete 1400 acres land acquisition by end of this month for Koil Sagar, Bheema, Nettempadu, Kalwakurthy and others. He also asked them to acquire in Palamur 300 more acres by November 15, a release said. (NSS)
