The biggest irrigation project in Telangana after the achievement of statehood should be completed even before the deadline of two-and-a-half years, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said.
The State Government will complete the prestigious Palamur-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project to transform into green the parched lands of backward Mahbubnagar district in about two-and-a-half years, he stated along with Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy at a high-level review meeting on the projects.
The minister directed the officials to work in tandem with other departments and contractors to complete the project as per schedule. “Unless we work together like a family, the PSRIL will not complete on time; we can distribute irrigation waters to crops”, he maintained. Harish Rao asked the officials to expedite the land pooling for the purpose and begin the works related to canals and bunds on priority. Contract organizations, engineering and other staff should coordinate for speedy completion of the Palamur project to bring under ayacut 10 lakh acres with project and double it in five years. Works should take pace and efforts will be made to complete all other pending projects as per Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directive he stated.
