Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today asked the officials concerned to complete the Mission Kakatiya phase one works at district level by March end, besides initiating steps to protect them through constituting local committees.
He held a high level review meeting at Secretariat with officials here and released the 2016 calendar. Before giving closing report for the phase one works, field inspections have to be conducted, Harish Rao said. The officials, he said, have to prepare an annual plan for reviews of the project under second phase, he said. He reviewed the progress of lakes and ponds being restored in all the nine districts excluding Hyderabad.
The irrigation Minister instructed the officials to inspect the works for quality. Thorough inspections should be done from district to village level involving officials of quality control, DE, AE and other officials, he said. For phase two works of the flagship program, soil tests should be conducted. Mission Kakatiya aims to restore and filling-up of lakes, ponds and water bodies and supply of water to crops on time, he said. Stating that there cannot be any dereliction of the works and on quality, the minister warned of serious action for delay and corruption. Harish Rao asked the irrigation department to make use of services of IIT Hyderabad and BITS Hyderabad for the progress of the Mission Kakatiya. (NSS)
