Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao today directed the officials to complete on a war-footing the canal works of Mid Manair project and to irrigate 80000 acres besides procuring 200 acres of land.
Harish Rao held a video conference from Secretariat on the project and instructed the officials to immediately giver Rs 2 lakhs to the villagers being displaced due to submergence under the project. He also asked to provide all facilities at the rehabilitation centers and help the victims. The minister said that it is planned to store 10 tmc waters in MMR and land acquisition under package eight be completed avoiding delay. The district collectors were asked to make a field level visit to take immediate steps for land acquisition and giving compensation to the people under the project. Since the government is committed to irrigate 80000 acres he said adding that purpose will not be served if canal works are not completed. The government gave funds to the collectors who can spend them for the rehabilitation works he said. (NSS
