A social activist today approached the Lokayukta Court here for police protection, alleging he was facing life threats from the henchmen of former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa against whom he has filed a private complaint accusing him of illegal land denotification. Hunsur K Chandrashekar, also founder President of Praja Kranthi Party, in his application claimed that he received the threats over telephone and appealed to the court to provide him police protection. Lokayukta court judge N K Sudhindra Rao posted the application to March 6 for further hearing. In his complaint filed before the court on February 16, Chandrashekar had stated that Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister had denotified five acres out of about six acres acquired by Bangalore Development Authority in Halagavaderahalli here for development of a new layout, allegedly disregarding objections by officials. The applications by two persons for denotification of the land was rejected by the previous S M Krishna and H D Kumaraswamy governments. But, Yeddyurappa ordered denotification of the land on ‘humanitarian’ grounds, he contended. PTI
