Hyderabad, December 11: As per the saying “Cut the nose of the deity and present the same as offering” the Govt. is giving compensation to the innocent Muslim youths of Makka Masjid bomb blast case from the provision of maintenance grant of “Royal mosque of Public Garden. Not only this, the Govt. is planning to distribute the amount of compensation individually instead of giving them in an official celebration.
It clearly indicates that on the one hand, the Govt. wants to make the Muslims believe that it intends to compensate the atrocities meted out to the innocent youths, on the other hand, it has inhibitions that by giving compensation to the Muslim youths, the Hindu voters might be irritated. The compensation would have been subtracted from the salaries or from their pension funds of those errant police officers. Who had resorted to violence on these Muslim youths. The police had implicated them under various pretexts, arrested them and tortured for their religious sentiments.
National Minorities Commission had recommended to the state Govt. to give compensation to the affected Muslim youths by deducting this from their salaries. Congress Party, which doesn’t want to lose any opportunity to publicity, issued the G.O reluctantly. The Govt. is reluctant in distributing the compensation in a public meeting which reveals its true face. When the police had arrested these Muslim youths, it had patted its own back by presenting them before the media. Real justice would be done only when the errant police officers are punished. The Govt. should humiliate these errant officers as they had humiliated and spoiled the lives of these innocent youths. The Govt. did not give compensation either from the budget of police Dept or from Chief Minister’s relief fund. This compensation is being paid from the maintenance provision of Shahi Masjid of Public Garden. According to secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafath, it is an official procedure. Since the Dept. of Minorities Welfare falls short of funds, it has to make provision from any other administrative fund. The provision of Makka Masjid and Shahi Masjid fund has been chosen as a discretionary act. He said that the Govt. will refund the amount very soon. This has been mentioned in the G.O. The point to be noted here is that this amount is being met from the budget of those mosques where the salaries of the employees are not paid regularly for want of funds. It has been learnt that the Govt. is adopting a careful strategy in making payments to the victims of Makka Masjid bomb blast incident. Govt. is apprehensive that by paying compensation to the Muslim youths, it has to face the wrath of Hindu voters. The lobby of the police officers is also exerting its pressure that by paying such compensation, the
morale of the police Dept. will be lowered. The affected persons say that if the Govt. thinks that there have been atrocities to the Muslim youths, it should deduct this compensation from the salaries of the police officers. Exoneration by the court means that these youths had been implicated illegally in fake cases. The report of the Advocate Commissioner appointed by the Minorities commission shows that these youths were tortured inhumanly in jail and their religious sentiments have been hurt. The victim’s say that they will be satisfied when the errant police officers are dismissed from service and an enquiry is conducted as to why the real culprits were covered up and let off. Was it done at the instance of communal organizations? Till the enquiry is completed, they should be kept under suspension and criminal cases should be registered against them so that no police officer in the future could dare committing such a crime. These victims also alleged their the Govt. of A.P. is shielding the police officers who had extended that cooperation to Gujarat Police in the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin. Despite registering a murder case of Mujahid saleem against the Gujarat police officer, the A.P. police is avoiding to arrest him and start legal proceedings against him.
