Ranchi, March 17: Jharkhand government today announced Rs five lakh to the family of a victim, died in the police firing nearly two years ago.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today announced the compensation in state Assembly, after CPI (ML-Liberation) MLA Vinod Kumar had raised the issue yesterday, demanding adequate compensation and a job to the family of Pradip Paswan.
HRD Minister Baijnath Ram had said yesterday that there was no provision for compensation to any person dying when the police were engaged in maintaining law and order, but the government would consider the demand and Speaker C P Singh referred the matter to Call Attention Committee.
