Compensation to exonerated youths: Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafat

Hyderabad, August 18: Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafat, IAS, Secretary, Minorities Welfare, Govt of A.P. in an interview with Siasat said that on receipt of recommendations of the National Minorities Commission, he has sought reports from Home Department and General Administration Dept. as the matters pertaining to payment of compensation and providing jobs to the victims of Makkah Masjid bomb blast cases pertain to these departments.

The deduction of compensation from the salaries of the police officials falls under the jurisdiction of Home Dept. They have to take a decision. In addition to this, issuing good conduct certificate also the job of the police dept. He said that on receipt of reports from these departments, he will prepare a comprehensive report and submit the same to Govt. As per the procedure, Govt has to submit the Minorities Commission is recommendations and the Action Taken Report to the Assembly. He said that it is the discretion of the Govt. to accept or reject these recommendations.

He told that it will be his endeavour that the victims get justice. He also said that the reports of Advocate Commissioner. Mr. Ravichandra & Justice Bhaskara Rao are also required to presented to the Assembly. He informed that a meeting of the state level bankers would be proposed to the Govt. for granting loans to Minorities. As per the guidelines of R.B.I, the banks are required to allocate 15% of the loans for Minorities. This is not being done. It may be mentioned that out of the state’s credit plan of Rs. 65, 763 crore, nearly Rs. 9,864.45 crore should be distributed to Minorities.

He mentioned that he will propose to the Govt. for conducting the Geo-positing survey of the Wakf properties which will help locate them and it would be possible to control illegal occupations. He said that he would instruct the Wakf Board to update the data regarding Wakf Properties for displaying on the website. He pointed out that an attempt is being made to bring uniformity in the records of the Wakf Board and that of the Revenue Department for which the Govt. has to accord consent. Govt has issued instructions to collectors to constitute Task Force in each district for the protection of Wakf Properties. It is also not being done. He said that he would write to all the collectors in this regard. At the end of the interview, he said that anyone with proper documents can approach him for getting his case settled. He will try his level best to impart justice.
