Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today promised that the government will provide financial succor to the farmers whose crops including mango and others lost due to untimely rains and thunderstorms in Sidhipet. He made a field level visit to the spots of crops collapse and interacted with the farmers and promised them of timely help.
Besides crop investment the government will provide crop loss amount to the farmers he said. The matter will be taken to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for immediate steps he said. The minister asked the collector and officials to give a report in two days on the loss of crops, mango and others. On getting report the government will take steps for providing financial assistance he said and added to provide insurance coverage for crop loans obtained. Due to heavy rains for two days in nine mandals 60 villages suffered major losses of crops. This includes, according to primary estimates, 2611 hectares paddy, 300 hectares vegetables and 800 hectares mango crops.(NSS)
