Riyadh, June 28: Indian Business companies functioning in the Gulf countries have turned towards Saudi Arabia for expanding their business activities.
In view of the deteriorating economic situation in the Gulf countries, these companies are trying to get major contracts in Saudi Arabia. Voltas company of Tata group which had participated in furnishing air conditioning system in Masjid-e-Nabavi and Larsen and Tubro are now prepared to take up Haramain High speed railway project which connects Makkah and Madina.
This railway track will pass through Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic city and other important cities of the Kingdom. L & T have also obtained license from Saudi Electrical Company for electric power transmission lines and towers. This project costs 132.7 Million U.S. Dollars. It will supply electricity to high speed trains through 380 KW electric power stations. It will be completed in two years. The high speed train will run at the speed of 360 km per hour. This project is being completed by Al-Raajhi Consortium of Saudi Arabia in which China Railway Engineering Corporation is collaborating.
Voltas commissioned Central air conditioning system of 163 storeyed building Bridge Al-Khaleefa of Dubai. G M R Group is showing interest in grabbing the project related to Madina Airport. They are trying to collaborate with a Turkish firm which constructed Istanbul Airport. Another Indian company Mitas Infra is trying to get the project relating to the extension of King Abdul Aziz Airport of Jedda in collaboration with Bin Laden Group.
