Communal violence erupts in old Tandur

Hyderabad, February 21: Violence erupted in Nandur of Rangareddy district last night when tiff between two youth of same caste took a violent turn.

Giving communal turn to mutual row between two youth of scheduled caste some anti social elements started pelting stones consequently intensifying the situation.

It is said that police taking one-sided action arrested innocent Muslim youth.

Circle inspector Ramesh and SI Tirupati Raja headed by DSP Venkat Swami along with other cops reached place of incident and lathi charged to disperse groups busy in stone pelting.

Local Muslims complained that police demonstrating bias didn’t take action against the offenders, instead assaulted Muslims youth and injured them.

Siasat correspondent also got hurt in lathi charge.

The area remained tensed till late night.

The injured include Mohammad Shareef Congress leader whose eye suffered a serious injury. Mohammad Yousuf, Mohammad Wajid, auto drivers’ heads were deeply wounded.

Two autos and a jeep were damaged. Nearly 15 to 20 people were injured in caning and stone pelting including ex-counselor Congress Mohammad Irfan, TRS leader Syed Mujeeb and Siasat correspondent Faheem Khan.
