Communal clashes prompted the clamping of prohibitory orders in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday night.
Two groups indulged in stone pelting following the alleged hurling of crackers on a religious procession hours before Muharram in the sensitive Pala Bazar locality of Barwani at around 10.00pm.
The stone pelting was ensued by angry mobs of two different communities setting ablaze and damaging half a dozen two wheelers and four wheelers.
The incident left around 4-5 persons injured, including the SP Barwani Tilak Singh, who sustained slight injury in stone pelting.
According to IG Indore Vipin Maheshwari, heavy police force was deployed in the concerned locality following the communal clashes and situation is now under control.
Barwani SP Tilak Singh confirmed to TOI over phone clamping of Section 144 of CrPc in the affected Pala Bazar area.
At least 4 persons were injured in the late night violence who have been referred to Indore in critical state.
