Once again tension gripped in Atali village on Friday after hearsay that Muslims had installed coolers and fans in an under-construction mosque.
A panchayat was organised by some Hindus, senior civil and police officers get a move on to the village and notified the gathering that the court stay on construction at the mosque had not been violated.
The assurance by the administration brought the situation back to normal in the Ballabgarh’s Atali village.
“There were reports that some Muslims had started installing fans inside the mosque on Thursday evening. Following this a panchayat was called that was attended by 150 Hindus,” said a villager said.
“We told the people nothing of that sort had happened. Peace has returned to the village,” said Bhupinder Singh, DCP Ballabgarh.
May 25, communal violence erupted in Atali village over a disputed piece of land, where one community was building a religious structure in which houses of Muslims were torched. Vehicles and Houses belonging to a minority community were set on fire during communal violence in the district.
Clashes left the minority community frightened and the local administration had to provide accommodation to them at the Ballabgarh city police station.
