Communal Harmony: At Borabanda, people from across faiths serve meals to fasting Muslims

HYDERABAD: In Borabanda area of Hyderabad, Ramzan is all about communal harmony as residents people of all faiths – Hindus, Sikhs and Christians come together for Sahr to serve devotees during the pre-dawn meal to fasting Muslims.

City’s deputy mayor Mohammad Baba Fasiuddin said that unifying act in the area, bringing people of different communities together is a true reflection of the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb of Hyderabad.

“Over the last couple of years, it has been happening that during Sahr that people of different communities together join Muslims to prepare the meal and serve the devotees who are not able to have their sehri while travelling or bachelors who face difficulty during sehr. They specially non-Muslims sisters come here around 1 am and the food is served among the devotees by dawn and also oversees other arrangements. It gives immense pleasure to see people from all communities to bond,” said deputy mayor.
