Five people, including a policeman, were injured in communal clashes near Nanpura in Bahraich district. The violence erupted on Tuesday during a “Julus-e-mohammadi” procession in Mohraba village after a group of people allegedly damaged a place of worship, police said. Eight people have been arrested.
As the two groups indulged in stone-pelting, four houses and some vehicles were damaged, sources said.
Senior police officers immediately rushed to the area and held discussions with the community members. Heavy police force and PAC have been deployed as tension prevails in the area, sources said.
