To strengthen Urdu language, its promotion in schools and libraries and teaching in minority schools in the State, Minority Commission has constituted a 12-member committee.Addressing the media at Secretariat here today, Commission
Chairman Abid Rasool Khan said the committee would tour the districts and ascertain the facts relating to functioning of Urdu schools, teachers, staff and facilities and submit a report in a month. Based on that, the commission will impress upon the government to cater to the needs. He also said the commission has taken a serious note of the case of Volvo bus accident in which 45 persons were charred to death in Mahabunagar district.
The commission issued Suo Moto notices to Volvo India company, RTA Secretary and sought a complete report. Measures were taken to provide compensation to the kin of families, he said. To address the problems and grievances of minorities, the committee will tour all districts in the State from January to June next year. Initially, the committee will visit Mahbunagar district from January 6 to 8 and sort out the issues related to minorites on the spot. He said he would visit a rape victim in Nizamabad on December 23 and try to help the family. (NSS)
