After receiving complaints that the managements of private medical colleges are selling postgraduate seats upto Rs. 1.5 Crore, Government called the Principals of 19 medical colleges and discussed the issue.
Out of 750 PG medical seats, 375 seats are under management quota. It was alleged that before the end of Government counseling, PG seats have already been sold out in April itself by the private medical college managements. Government has constituted a Committee to find out whether rules and regulations have been followed in giving admissions. The committee consists of Director Medical Education Dr. Vishnu Prasad (Chairman) and Principals of three Government medical colleges. It will submit its report within two weeks. All the principals are required to present all the documents before the Committee. It was complained that some colleges did not even notified admissions in reputed newspapers. When students asked for admission forms, they were told that all the seats have exhausted. Many students had lodged their complaints with Medical Council of India. The Medical Council has warned that the affiliation of the colleges violating the rules will be cancelled.
