(Siasat News) Commissioner of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, IPS, visited Dairatul Maarif of Osmania University. Prof. Mohammed Mustafa Shareef, Director highlighted various activities of the institutions, he told that Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, Nizam-VI had established Dairatul Maarif in 1882 with an objective of publication of ancient Arabic manuscripts. For the past 130 years Dairatul Maarif has been working in this directions. It has published 200 old manuscripts belonging to Medieval period.
Highlighting the problems, the Director told that except one all the employees are working on adhoc basis. The employees have to be paid gratuity and arrears. The institution needs auditorium, reading room, compound wall and other buildings. It also needs the books to be translated into English. He requested the Govt. to release special grant for celebrating 125th anniversary of the Institute. Mr. Iqbal assured that he would represent the matter to the Govt. Mr. Abdul Khader Faisal, Member of the Executive Council of Osmania University, Dr. Mohammed Ansari, Director of Minorities Cell of Osmania University, Mr. M.A. Numan, Assistant Registrar of Osmania University, Dr. Syed Mohammed Shujauddin Quadri Aziz, Assistant Professor of Arabic of Osmania University were also present on this occasion.
