Commercialization of Education

Today education sector is completely commercialized. Since the education has been commercialized the relationship between students, teachers and educational institutions has become purely materialistic. Student has become a customer, teachers have become professionals and educational institution has become a supermarket and money is the prerequisite to benefit from it.

Massive rise in different forms of fee charged by the schools have laid a great burden on parents and guardians. Middle class people are compelled to think a hundred times before getting their wards admitted into the schools. Schools administrations are charging an exorbitant fee structure in the name of tuition fee, exam fee, term free, building fund etc etc.

Moreover they are also extorting money from the parents by setting up stalls of books, uniforms and stationary at the school premises itself. They take from thousands to lakhs of rupees from publishers and retailers for giving them permission to setup stalls. Thus they keep on collecting money with both hands throughout the year.

A reader from Kala Pather told that he had to sell his wife’s 30 grams gold to get their daughter admitted into a reputed school.
