Comimittee to fight for release of Vimalakka formed

“Vimalakka Vidudala Committee”, formed to fight for the release of Telangana crusader Vimalakka, has demanded that the State government withdraw all criminal cases foisted against her and release her from the jail unconditionally. It also appealed to all sections of the people to raise their voice against the government’s ‘zulum’ against Vimalakka, who has been fighting for separate Telangana State since 1996.

The committee members stated that Vimalakka was taken into custody on trumped up charges just for democratically fighting for separate State. She has been languishing in the jail since 55 days. The Congress government fabricated “Devunipally Conspiracy Case in 2010 against Vimalakka for raising a slogan of “Srikrishna Commission Go back. Condemning the government for trying to paint the Telangana agitation as a conspiracy against the government, Vimalakka obtained a stay from the High Court. Disregarding the HC stay order, the police told the court that Vimalakka was absconding since two years and got her bail petition dismissed.

The Committee stated that the government had arrested Vimalakka as part of disrupting the Hyderabad March on September 30 this year. Again she was arrested on October 13 when a round table on Telangana declared that they would submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, during his arrival in city on October 12 to address the International Bio-Diversity Conference.

The committee also condemned the government for rounding up Telangana crusaders without any specific charge and trying to gag the voice of the people of the region. The rulers-that-be are viewing the uncompromising Telangana agitation as a great crime against humanity.
