I come from mass, will melt into it: President

Mumbai: President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday said he has come from the masses and would melt into it, leaving no legacy behind. He said that with retirement from Presidentship, he would retire from public life altogether.

After his speech at the India Today Conclave here, Mukherjee was asked by anchor Rajdeep Sardesai what legacy he would leave behind.

To this, Mukherjee said: “I am part of the mass and would melt into the mass. I will leave no legacy.”

The President also said earlier in his speech that a public office is “nothing but service to the people”.

“I must say I never considered that because of holding the office either my wisdom has increased or my importance has increased. I always kept in mind that office is nothing but service, and service to the people,” Mukherjee said.
