Colombia mine blast traps 75

Bogota, June 17: A blast in a northwestern Colombian coal mine trapped some 75 miners, an official said on Thursday, warning the likelihood of survivors was “practically none”.

Late on Wednesday there was an explosion in the San Fernando mine in the town of Amaga, in Antioquia province, said Luz Amanda Pulido, head of the national disaster prevention office.

“Three bodies were recovered and 75 other miners are still trapped,” she said.

Regarding the likelihood of survivors, she said: “They are very low, practically none”.
