Puducherry, February 06: A first year BCom student of a college at Mylam in Villuppuram district of Tamil Nadu allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
According to police the student was identifified as Sridhar (20) of Hanumanthai near here.
He took the extreme step as his classmates ridiculed him on some issues. Sridhar who was admitted to the JIPMER hospital here succumbed to his burns last night.
On a complaint from his father Kuppusamy, Marakkanam police registerd a case and are on the look out for three students in connection with the case.
